Freeda Alberta McCaslin

Freeda Alberta McCaslin, 90, of Rochelle passed away October 9, 2011 at Rochelle Rehab and Health Care Center. Freeda was born May 19, 1921 in Jeff, Wayne County, Il. daughter of Orville and Virgia (Withrow) Chapman. She married Gordon McCaslin December 28, 1936 in Rochelle, Il.. Freeda attended Rochelle schools and worked for Del Monte Plant 115 for 25 years. She enjoyed reading and watching westerns. She was a member of the First National Bank VIA Club and traveled all over the world, just a couple of her travels included, a cruise on the Amazon River and a hot air balloon ride over herds of elephants, zebras and many more African animals. While living at Lincoln Manor she was involved in all the activities and trips. She helped build and attended Cross Roads Church. She was also a member of New Life Foursquare church in Rochelle. Freeda always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. She is survived by four daughters, Patricia (Jim) Balcom of Chana, Barbara (Jerry) Hanson of Rochelle, Nancy (Ron) Coffman of Chana and Judith Dickinson of Rochelle; 15 grandchildren and numerous great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon McCaslin; one son Frank McCaslin and four brothers, Vernie, Dallas, Dale and Buster Chapman. Graveside services will be held 10:30 am Friday October 14, 2011 at Lawnridge Cemetery with Pastor Anne Erickson officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
